Ladies and Ladies, please welcome your Reyansh and his POV.
Reyansh's POV-
The sterile hospital walls seemed to close in on me, their fluorescent glow casting shadows on the linoleum floor. I sat in an uncomfortable hospital chair, my fingers tapping a restless rhythm. Hospitals-the crossroads of life and death, where hope and despair collided. The news of a new life entering the world have brought joy in our family.
Our family and Singhanias are also present here but the main person, the child's father (Ranveer Singhania) is out of country. Though he didn't wanted to leave my sister alone but this was not in his hand. Maa and dadi are at home for the welcome of the newborn.
She had been yearning to meet her husband, but disappointment always followed.
And then, Raj burst in, curiosity dancing in his eyes. We all turned to look at him, and he grinned, hoping anyone to tell him the good news. That's when we heard it-the unmistakable cry of a newborn.
The hospital hummed with activity, the cries of newborn, the sighs of the elderly and the silent prayers.
The nurse approached, "Congratulations it's a boy. And the mother is also doing well. Would you all like to see the baby?"
As we followed the nurse, the anticipation in the air was palpable. The newborn lay beside her mother, bathed in soft light. I smiled looking at Neha di, she smiled back closing her eyes, her face exhausted. Her mother-in-law and chachi ji went her side along with Niharika and we, one by one met the new life. His tiny fingers reached out, seeking connection with the world beyond.
Chachi ji beamed, her eyes reflecting the joy of generations. "He has his father's eyes," she said, her voice catching. "And his mother's resilience."
Raj stood beside me, reaching his hand to touch the baby's cheek when someone slapped his hands. Surprise filled the air. Their stood the father of the baby boy, Ranveer, all in his glory. Looks like he came running all the way from Chicago.
Ranveer holds his breath as he stepped forward, his eyes soft with wonder and exhaustion. His journey from Chicago had been fueled by adrenaline and love, and now he stood there, a mix of emotions etched across his face.
Neha di's tired eyes met his, and the baby boy nestled in her arms stirred, as if sensing the arrival of his father. Ranveer's gaze shifted to the tiny bundle, and he reached out, his fingers trembling as they brushed against the soft baby skin.
"Hello, little one," he whispered, his voice cracking. "I'm your dad." His eyes filled with tears, and he leaned down to kiss Neha di's forehead. "You did it," he murmured. "You brought our son into this world."
Neha di's smile was radiant, a mix of relief and joy. "He's perfect," she said. "Just like you."
I glanced at the baby, he was now looking at my direction smilling? I raised my eyebrows looking at him and he laughed. Oh, he's so cute and the way his fingers curled around his father's thumb did something to me. I'm imagining my child doing the same and their face just like me and their mother. I have to wait so many years for this to happen and first of all find the mommy of my child?
Suddenly someone's nervous smiling face playing with her dupatta came before my eyes but I shooed away my thoughts.
Chacha ji, Chachi ji, Mr. and Mrs. Singhania watched the scene unfold, their own eyes misty. Ranveer glanced at Raj, who grinned and gave him a thumbs-up. He told Raj to hold the baby with his hands first but gently!, he warned. Raj looking more than excited gestured Niharika to come along with him as if her brother is not standing just a few meters away from him.
His usual mischievous grin and Niharika looking hesitated but then, stepped forward to hold the baby. Though, they looked good with each other but... Okay, fine they look good.
My sister cooed to the baby, "Hey, main tumhari maasi hu." But before she could finish, Raj leaned in and murmured, "Aur chachi bhi." His eyes twinkled, and Niharika's jaw dropped. Saale, bahar mil tu.
Narrowing my eyes at Raj and I mouthed, "Don't you dare." But it was too late, the damage was done. The baby blinked innocently, as if fully aware of the family drama unfolding around him.
Meanwhile, Ranveer beamed at the chaotic scene. "Well," he said to Neha di, "our son is already getting a crash course in family dynamics." Neha di laughed, exhaustion forgotten for a moment. "Indeed," she replied. "Welcome to the circus, little one."
Okay, they heard that too, I looked at the elders hoping any reaction from them but they were too indulged in the farewell talks and stuff that they didn't noticed the talks.
................................
As the hospital staff prepared Neha di and the baby for discharge, our family gathered in the hallway. The air was thick with excitement and exhaustion, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions.
Heading to our house I was thinking about someone when suddenly someone put their arm around my shoulder, when I looked in their direction I found the dog, I mean Raj.
I cringed. "Raj, what are you doing?"
"What are you doing? Daydreaming about someone or I should say Pr-"
Before he could say further, I grabbed his arm and twisted it, making him yelp.
"First you tell me, what were you saying about my sister to the baby huh? Chachi? If I'm not saying anything that doesn't mean you would sit on my head, you fucker!"
"Hey leave my arm bro and when your sister doesn't have any problem then why you are being-"
"Shut up and listen-"
"You shut up and listen, I was going to tell you someone was asking about you in college but you being a dumbshit I don't think it's important to tell you this." he cut my sentence and suddenly my heartbeat raced at the thought of her asking about me, why?
"Pratiksha asked about me?" I asked him curiously.
"Huh? I didn't told you whether the someone was Pratiksha or someone else." He gasped. Suddenly, blood rushed to my cheeks at the thought of being caught.
"No, I mean I gave her notes to write and..." I shrugged. "What she said?"
He winced, rubbing his arm where I'd twisted it. "No!"
"What? Why?"
"because of this." he pointed towards his arm which had the marks of my fingers? Am I that strong?
"Oh, okay I'm sorry. Now please can you tell me what she said?" I rolled my eyes when he gasped.
"Ohh gosh you just requested, Mr. Reyansh Khurrana requested? Waah!!", for god sake Raj and his acting.
"Will you tell me or I-"
"Okay okay wait!" he cleared his throat, "You won't believe it. She blushed and stammered like a Bollywood heroine caught in a rainstorm. It was like watching a live romantic movie!"
I rolled my eyes. "Raj, it's not that dramatic."
"But wait," he continued, leaning in conspiratorially, "she was going to say, 'tell him I was missing him' And then she practically pushed me out. Reyansh, my friend, you've got yourself a secret admirer!"
Niharika chimed in, her eyes twinkling. "Reyansh bhaiya, you're like the hero of a college romance novel. Pratiksha is your leading lady!" We gasped at her sudden interruption.
Raj nodded winking at her. this fucker. "Exactly! Oh, the tension, the chemistry!"
I sighed. "You two are impossible," Niharika giggled.
I shook my head. "You guys are turning this like a bollywood movie."
Raj winked. "Well, Reyansh, life is more fun when it's a little filmy."
I cringed at his words, bullshit.
